Special characters replaced by ?

Hi
After upgrade from 4.3 to 6.2 some special characters no longer are displayed. It's no issue of codepage changes, as this occurs as well when I try to create these characters.
I tried to create these characters in the editor by selecting in the 'Special characters' table.
I tried to key in the html-code with amp - naming - semicolon.

The result is all the same:
In the editor and also in the preview the code is correctly displayed (html-code is parsed)!
But after saving the page these characters all are replaced by question marks.

Not working characters are for example

logical and & and ;
logical or & or ;
right arrow & rarr ;
for all & forall ;
exist & exist ;
set union & cup ;
set intersect & cap ;

and many others.

How can I display these characters? I need them urgently!

Regards
Dieter

Remark:
My workaround was: I used Dynamic Variables like % rarr % (without spaces) instead of the special characteres and saved the page. Then I defined the value of the variables by clicking on NaV and keying in the html coding like & rarr ; (without spaces).
Then I got the characters displayed and was happy so far. Until I defined one more of these characters (may be this was 1 too much): The question marks appeared again for all dynamic variables except the last one I edited. If I edited any other dynamic variable this edited one is displayed correctly, but all others became question marks.

So I used phpmyadmin to view/edit the table content of `tiki_dynamic_variables`. There if also found the question marks as value of the variables, same as the display of them.

Now all dynamic variables were displayed corretly again. But only until I again edited just one of these variables by TikiWiki. Since then all variables were resetted again to ?..

This seems to be a bug istn't it??

Now I got it:
Responsible is the setting 'HTML Purifier' under 'Editing and Plugins' (text area).
If this checkbox is activated all special characters are replaced by '?' (question marks).
As I deactivated it (and HTML allowed for that page) all special characters are displayed, no matter if the are keyed in with HTML Syntax &xxx; or as content of dynamic variables.
At least with R6.2
