Version Control/Archives in File Galleries

The following situation happens in my installation of Tiki...

  1. Upload 'File-A' to a File Gallery
  2. When I need to make an edit, I select 'Download and Lock'
  3. I make the necessary changes and select 'Upload new version'
  4. As expected, the new version is in the relevant File Gallery and the first version is archived.

However, the problems start when I want to make another update. The following is what happens...

  1. I download the most recent version of 'File-A', which is the only version in the File Gallery. As before, I use the 'Download and Lock' feature.
  2. I make the change that I want and use the 'Upload new version' feature.
  3. Strangely, there are now the second and third versions of 'File-A' in the File Gallery. The first version is still archived.

What I want to happen is everytime I upload a new version, the previous version is automatically archived. This means I would expect to see multiple versions of the same file in the archive and, of course, I'd then be able to rollback to any of them (if necessary).

Is there any way I can configure the File Galleries to get what I want, or is there a bug in Tiki that makes the above problem happen?

I tried this with both current 6.3 and 7.1 Tiki versions and I cannot recreate the problem. Every time I click on the action icon in front of the file name and select "upload new version", it uploads the new version and archives the previous version, whether the file is locked or not.

However, in both 6.3 and 7.1 there was a problem, setting the file gallery property "Allow same file to be uploaded more than once" to either "Never" or "Only in different galleries" fails.

Selecting either "Never" or "Only in different galleries" does not stop you from being able to upload the same file, with the exact same file title and file name, to the same file gallery, multiple times.
