Problems with editing pages -- corrupted HTML, Wiki syntax etc.

I'm new to Tiki Wiki and have created a site that is intended to be reasonably friendly to non-tech-savvy users. But that goal is being hampered by very flaky editor behavior.

Sometimes I open a page for editing and all kinds of HTML markup appears in the edit window, and it's still there (and visible) when the document gets saved. I have to get back into the editor and manually delete the extraneous HTML.

Sometimes I edit using the WYSIWYG editor (which is what I had hoped my non-tech-savvy users would use), but when I re-open it with the Wiki markup editor, things again get all messed up, and I have to spend time cleaning things up.

I routinely switch between WYSIWYG and HTML editing in WordPress with few problems, and I find it fairly exasperating that I apparently can't do the same in TikiWiki.

Is there a combination of options for editing that will minimize the potential for corruption of formatting? Do I have to abandon WYSIWYG editing altogether to ensure this?

What version are you using. Earlier Tiki versions have issues when switching back-and-forth from Wiki editing to WYSIWYG. Normally, be sure to enable the "open as last saved" option.

You should also check the bug listQuestion to see if this is a known issue.
