troubleshooting: seeing text only, no css or images

Hi folks,

I've had tiki loaded on my website in it's own directory, with it's own database since September or so. As of a few days ago, it broke. I'm not sure if there was perhaps an automatic update run for my web server or what.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the problem is, it looks like my Tiki installation isn't loading it's CSS files when I'm in my root /wiki folder. This means I can't log in, and pages break if they aren't in subfolders.

Other folders are fine, so if I'm in /wiki/gobbledegook it asks me to log in and I can see the login windows.

Any ideas what's up or how to fix this?

Examples: http://www.pysystems.ca/wiki/

Thanks folks!

Chris

Thanks HTH.

I turned on php error reporting (http://twbasics.tikiforsmarties.com/How+Do+I...#Turn_on_Tiki_s_error_reporting_and_logging_option_), though I don't see an option to log errors to a file. Any tips on where I might find an error log?

Once I log in as admin, I'm on a fairly useless page with a php parse error: http://pysystems.ca/tiki_wiki_error.png

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENDIF in /home/pysystem/public_html/wiki/templates_c/en
%%48
481^481EAFBB%%tiki-page_bar.tpl.php on line 1 (sorry I'm not sure how to get this into a code block)

But I can hit the back button, be logged in, and then this page is loading fine http://www.pysystems.ca/wiki/tiki-admin.php. (image: http://pysystems.ca/tiki_admin_working.png) So it doesn't seem to be a broken URL issue...

I've got tiki version 6.3.

Thanks for the help,
Chris

Can you turn on Tiki's error reporting? That will help begin to figure out the problem.

Also, what Tiki version are you using?

From your screenshot, it appears that everything is now working properly...

As TomJarvis suggested, you should clear your Tiki cache.

Try clearing the cache using Admin - Tiki Cache/Sys Admin
If the problem you are having prevents you from seeing that option in the Admin menu drop down, once you are logged in as admin, paste http://www.pysystems.ca/wiki//tiki-admin_system.php?do=all into your browser's address bar and go there.

Thanks Tom,

I cleared the cache as you said (Clear all tiki caches). Doesn't seem to have made a difference.

HTH, no it's not working still. It's a problem that depends on which page I'm on. Maybe the theme got disabled for some pages somehow? To get to that admin logged-in screen, I have to go to wiki/lorumipsumwhatever (the wiki loads an error page without a problem by doing this; otherwise as you'll see by going to www.pysystems.ca/wiki there's no formatting or headers, which means no functionality). I then have access to the login widget, can can log in, everything looks fine on the first page and the category pages as you pointed out. Once I navigate through to an actual wiki page all the formatting, headers, etc are gone again, similarly to the home page at /wiki. All the actual text is available in plaintext html.

Other ideas? I've never upgraded Tiki but that should be done anyways so I can try that and maybe that will fix it? (I've been delaying upgrading since I need to put some research into how to make sure not to lose data or settings)

Cheers,
Christine

I just went to your site and it appears to be working fine for me, other than the site logo.
You might want to set the error reporting to "Visible to admin only" in Admin/General/General Preferences.

Aha.. thanks Tom, lightbulb! I have no idea what's going on with my install of FireFox on my computer, I've had trouble loading www.garmin.com and have to use Chrome or I wind up on their 404 page. Trying our wiki from chrome works fine, it's only broken in my install of Firefox 11. Must have broken when FireFox upgraded.

I have no idea what's causing it... but it's probably not a tiki problem. If anyone has any ideas they are most welcome.... but I'm satisfied for now!

Aw bugger, false alert. It's just when I'm logged in as admin, not firefox. Logging in as the admin on either firefox or chrome causes the wiki pages to be plain-text.

But the user accounts seem fine for accessing everything, and I can work my way into the admin panel. So functionality is there.

Further ideas welcome.

Cheers,
Christine

Check your settings in Look & Feel. If you have "Users can change theme" checked, then you could have selected the "empty" theme for your admin session, while the anonymous visitor may be seeing the theme default "fivealive".
