    I uncompressed the tar file to my local directory(windows)

    I went to http://localhost/tiki/tiki-install.php and I got this message:

    Tiki Installer cannot proceed
    The directory 'c:/phpdev/www/tiki/template_c' does not exist.

    So, I renamed the folder template to template_c and went to the install page.

    Warning: Smarty error: unable to read template resource: "tiki.tpl" in c:\phpdev\www\tiki\Smarty\Smarty.class.php on line 999

    Help!

    I'm currently using phpdev to install php, mysql and apache. I know nothng about IIS. I made changes to tiki-install.php, made db, and tiki-setup.php but I still can't install tiki.

    Why does installing tiki very hard on windows?

    I am new to tikiwiki but after having fiddled around, followed your instructions and reqad thru all other things I could find regarding the installation of the latest version on Windows XP, with MySql, PHP and IIS working, I still get the following error message:
