Random Image Not Showing UP

Hm...Okay. I was having this problem before the upgrade and was hoping it would be solved after it, but apparently now.

When I turn on "prevent robotic registration" on my website, it used to show a little graphic of some random numbers. Now, the image isn't showing up (only an X). I have no idea why. As far as I know the permissions are set correctly.

What can I do to fix this? I really don't like leaving my site wide-open to robots.

Hello again 😊

Check your phpinfo, theres a link at the bottom of the Admin (click) menu for the GD library.

The X normally means that there was a problem processing the image and GD is used to create it.

I don't see it anything about the gd library in either the admin (click) menu or the php info screen. Am I missing something? Why did it work before?

BTW, I am not running my own server (would that I were).

You would need to have GD module showing in the phpinfo screen. Without it, many parts of Tiki wont work. Check the Install Requirements from InstallTiki. You might also want to checkout TikiFriendlyHosts if there are hosting problems.

Ok - this is interesting. I thought that Gd library was bundled in PHP 4.3+. I've just realised that my phpinfo is not showing the GD module. Despite being 4.3.5. (& the random image is not showing)

Out of interest, what other features may be afftected?

I just heard back from my host--GD is compiled already.

Any other ideas?

Can you confirm that GD shows in tiki-phpinfo.php? If this didn't change don't expect to have Tiki working.
If yes, how are image galleries?

Looks like I can't upload any images to the gallery. All I get is this error:

Warning: move_uploaded_file(mattbarton.net/tikiwiki/temp/11.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mattbart/public_html/tikiwiki/tiki-upload_image.php on line 171

Sigh...This is getting so tiresome. The image galleries worked fine under 1.7.
