Ways to Get Help

The best way to get help is by helping! We have a recommended help process below that

a) Improves our documentation for the next person.
b) Avoids bogging our top developers down with too many support questions (so they can focus on making Tikiwiki even better.

Get Help with Installing and Configuring Tikiwiki

Try the items on this list in order.

  1. Go to doc.tikiwiki.org - the documentation site.
  2. Go to the page Installation to see if a page concerning your topic exists.
  3. Use the Search to see if a page concerning your topic exists.
  4. View the Troubleshooting pages to see if something matches your problem.
  5. Login (register with tikiwiki.org if you haven't already done so) and . . .
    1. Find the most appropriate existing page
    2. Ask any questions you have on that page. (Don't skip this step, it is critical to making the doc better)
    3. Tag the page with a link to ((help)) or one of the other tags so it appears on the documentation status page.
    4. Watch that page for answers to your questions, (they often will be in the form of links).
    5. Pat yourself on the back. The next person who comes along will only need to go to step 2.
  6. If after a few days nothing is happening try:
    1. search http://Tikiwiki.org for content.
    2. search the Tikiwiki user forums for content.
    3. get on the Tikiwiki IRC channel, or Tikiwiki Developer Listserve and ask a question there.

  2. Write what you know.
  3. Write what you need to know.
  4. Tag the page by linking it to one of the status pages.
