History: TikiStringsFormatConvention

In order to minimize the language file, and to have the same look accross Tiki, some rules need to be followed.
Some are arbitrary, some are for correct English. Feel free to propose other rules.

• in a title, each first letter of significant words is upper case.
  • Ex:

    Messages and Strings Format{/tr}

• in a button, the label is lower case
  • Ex:

    create a new structure{/tr}

• in a column header, the label is lower case
  • Ex:

    name{/tr}

• before a form text input, the label has an upper case first letter only and should be followed by ":"
  • Ex:

    Upload picture{/tr}:

    or

    Upload picture:{/tr}

    
    Some stats: in /templates dir the ":{/tr}" string currently has 151 occurences in 82 files on CVS BRANCH-1-9 while "{/tr}:" string occurs 1507 times in 300 files... and the winner is ? 😉
    
    Note: placing the ":" string inside or outside the translation needs discussion since I'm not sure if all languages do use it. luci

Learn how to run get_strings.php and do the following:

• Spellcheck your strings. If you save the old langauge.php file, you only need to spellcheck the difference. Translators have to "retranslate" spelling corrections
• Look in (the english) language.php and see if there is a pharese that you could use. There are allready too many variants, e.g.;
  • Create/Edit xxx
  • Create/edit xxx
  • Create or edit xxx
  • edit/create
  • create/edit
  • Edit or Add xxx
  • Add or Edit xxx
  • Add or edit xxx
  • click to edit
  • edit
  • edit this xxx
  • edit new xxx

Although some of the variants above migth have a justification it seems like creativity is winning over conformance...
