History: UserPageRachael

I started out on tiki as kage - I've been having trouble retreiving a new passord for that usename. After about 10 attempts and waiting about 4 days I decided to create a new user name. I'm now Rachael but otherwise not much else has changed 😉 I am an expat Brit living, working and studying in Norway. I've been living *in* the Fjords for nearly 10 years but do pop accross the North Sea to visit *home* as often as I can.

I'm a graduate student interested in information technology with a focus on the humanities.

General interests:

Ethics and digital culture
deliberative democracy
Content Management systems
E-learning
PHP

Other Interests (or have intentions on expanding my knowledge)

Xml
Web services

I am totally new to the whole wiki world, and was introduced to the “idea” whilst taking a graduate course in technology and pedagogy. I was interesting in finding a wiki coded with PHP and I found Tiki!

I am interested in setting up a Tiki for my department (Humanistic Informatics) at Bergen University. As part of my master thesis (empirical bit) I will try to engage the students to online debate about ethical issues (ie open source software) and encourage interest in their courses. I will be looking at the level of engagement and question the democratic process (and democratic theory).

I did intend to help out at Tiki by looking into different LMS's -
LearningManagementSystemDev
-after I get the Huminf site up and going I can hopefully contribute there (if it hasn't stagnated totally...)

Tiki has been taking up most of my time lately - I think it is a really exciting project and an amazingly supportive team. I have a study related blog, jottings - (mt - but will be migrating to tiki soon;) )

I can be contacted by mail, or I use MSN Messenger (my email address).
