Edit / Approve Edits Permissions for the Wiki

Hi thanks for reading.

I have a question about the permissions for editing a wiki. I read the documentation here http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Permission&structure=Documentation but it wasn't immediately clear if what I want to do is possible.

I want to create a wiki, and the user population will look something like this:

  • 50 users who can view and edit content, but edits are not "published" they are submitted for review to the...
  • 2 super-users who review, approve, and publish the edits of the regular users

Is this sort of edit permission/approval process possible with TikiWiki?

Thanks! 😀

Hi Gary, for my other (non TikiWiki) self written sites I have created an vertical css menu wich (until yet ..) is running pretty well under all common browsers I tested. It doesn't require any javascript, uses only html and css and, regarding the PHPlayer menus, it hasn't such a delay, when the mouse left the area. It is simply included in an arragement of floating elements (header, footer, left menu and different right menus according to the area), and I adapted the code for being displayed well in different IE-versions with some little comments (hacks?), which I didn't find neither in the ccsmenu CSS files nor in the tiki.tpl. Perhaps they aren't needed at all or I'm not able to find, where it's regarded 😉, but may I mail you the files, so that you can just have a look, if this code can be used for the Tiki, too?

Sure, that would be good. Thanks. You can send them to me at gary_c (at) zukakakina (dot) com. I'll probably also forward a copy to sylvieg, who has done most of the work on Tiki's CSS menus.

Hi Stuart, I just testet both, the PHP layer menu and the CSS menu option. The PHP layer works really fine 😀 in the top bar, also in a not new Tiki 2 theme - look at the screenshot I attached.

For the left column I get none of both running (but tested it not long, cause I only need the horizontal one). As an idea and for a quick solution, maybe not finally ...: you could assign the other pages to categories according to their pages name and use, like you begun, the category-modul to let the "submenu" be shown using the phplayer function of the category area.

... or you try to adapt the vertical php menu, looking at the eatlon style, like I did now for my theme ...
