Web Pages Available to Registered Users

I'm just starting my wiki. In the wiki, I'd like to have links to a set of web pages available to registered/authenticated users ONLY. The pages would not have any interactivity (editable). Where should these pages reside in the directory structure of the website/wiki? Would they only be available to registered users?

Wiki pages aren't in a directory structure; their contents, etc. are stored in the database, so you don't have to think about where to put them. Permissions in Tiki are granted on on object basis, not in terms of directories. The pages you want to restrict access to should have tiki_p_view permission assigned to the Registered group (or other group you want to allow to see them) via the "Perms" link at the bottom of each page. Page- (or other object-) specific permissions override global permissions. And then you can lock the pages so they can't be edited by others (click the "Lock" link at the bottom of the page).

That should do it. To test, try accessing the pages as different users (log out for anonymous view; to get the non-admin Registered user experience, enter the name of a Registered user in the log-in box ("user:__") while you're logged in as Admin (click "set").

Gary,
As I found out, setting permissions on wiki pages is very tedious. In my case, most of the wiki pages are assigned to a user group where by default have edit rights (i make used of the category to assign permissions). As soon as you assigned viewing permission to a wiki page, it cancels out the permission rights to the earlier group. Now then you have to reassign edit rights for the wiki pages to that previous group. There is also another issue for me as stated below.

If you wanted to provide viewing access that is simple and easy to do -assign the page with tiki_p_view permission and you are in business.

However, I do find it quirky and weird that if you wanted to grant edit permission to the page, you would naturally allow viewing permission as well. But strangely, you will have to assign tiki_p_view permission as well plus the tiki_p_edit, tiki_p_wiki_attachments, tiki_p_view_attachments, etc. I find it too tedious and take up a lot time if you have many wiki pages to assign edit rights to.

Have you figure out a easier way to handle this??😉

Are you sure permisssions are being given by means of the category? I tried a test and didn't get that result. See this PermsTestQuestion for the details. If I missed something, I'd like to be corrected.

I noticed that wiki pages given a specific tiki_p_edit perm require specific tiki_p_view perms or they will no longer be viewable. This appears to be a bug, or else a bad design decision. Rather than tiki_p_edit, the restricted pages can have tiki_p_admin_wiki assigned; then the pages will be viewable without an additional specific view permission. I'm not sure if this is exactly the problem in your case (my head starts to spin when I think about Tiki perms), but try using tiki_p_admin_wiki on pages instead of tiki_p_edit and see if you still need to make other permission changes.
