Does anyone have working Tiki site that uses a WYSIWYG editor?

The subject says it all.

  • half our users say they NEED a WYSIWYG editor
  • the other just get on with using tiki for what it is brilliant at (providing a infrastructure for a learning community).

Unfortuately the first half are are closer to the people who provide the funding.

Not sure if it's the same in all versions, but the blog area has had htmlarea in the past, that adds buttons (via javascript) to allow formatting of text in a textarea field.

It is possible to also include this into the main wiki textarea field too, allowing users to bypass wiki syntax. I allow my users to do this, ie have a choice of editors for a wiki page (in LauLima ), though I encourage them to use the wiki syntax, as the html that htmlarea produces can get a little messy if you're trying to do a combination of html and wiki syntax. Basically I give the option of choosing the editor for users to use, and chose to do so so they could make tables visually. You could make the edits yourself if you wish, or see how I did it by searching http://edu.tikiwiki.org/ for one of my previous posts and following the links.

HTH

Cheers
