Links leading to "Invalid variable value"

When I try to make pages at my site using certain non-alphanumeric characters, it doesn't work properly.

Linking with special characters #1
<Another crazy link>

If I try something like that, and then try to click on the link to edit it, I get Invalid variable value : page = Linking with special characters #1 At first I thought this was just a negative of TikiWiki. Tonight in searching around here to see if there was a way to work around this, though, I make the same links in a sandbox, and they work fine. What might be the difference in settings?

I have made a discovery on this issue, though it's not a very great solution. I found that if I were to make a page like Josh & Bob, it would actually be saved in the database as Josh & Bob, so all attempts to further work with Josh & Bob failed. If I manually changed the name of the page in the database back to the proper Josh & Bob, it starts working properly.

Such a trick does not seem to work with an attempt to make a page called something like Book #7, though. Even if I rename another page to that in the database, it tells me Invalid variable value : page = Book #7.

For wiki pages that include "special" characters, try encoding the URL:

  • Josh%20%26%20Bob
  • Book%20%237

The first works, the second doesn't. It seems some characters are able to be worked around (though it takes away from the extreme simplicity I like about using interlinking in wikis), and others it just refuses to work with.
