Re: TikiWiki is not properly set up

When installing tikiwiki, I always use mykk's guide:

http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Install%20with%20only%20FTP%20access&refresh=1&PHPSESSID=30d6aa0cf5862eeb06941d95a8dd215b&tikiversion=1.8.3&PHPSESSID=6ae8d4e6499eb773641162f9abdf5a04Question

I went in and checked the file permissions for one of my three sites. It turned out that the ones that i have to set manually, e.g. tiki/backups, had been reset by the provider. I corrected it, and permissions for a dozen other directories, and pointed the browser at .../tiki/tiki-index.php, with no better luck than before, same error, "The directory '/tmp' does not exist or PHP is not allowed to access it", etc. And then I tried to access the .../tiki/tiki-install.php script, that didn't work either (I know it's there).

These two were pointed out to me:

1) http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=InstallTikiUnderSafeModeQuestion

2) http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=6&comments_parentId=547Question

Under "Installing 1.8.2 under safe mode" in the former it says ... something, I have checked the relevant scripts, and the code seems to be as specified in this guide, more or less. There are som minor technical differences. As to the second link above, it too seems to be suggesting some corrections which are actually part of the installation scripts now. I will have to go over these two again.
