How to Web Site Autentication ?

Hello all,
I've built up a website with Joomla and Tikiwiki. Almost everything is working except the Authentication system.
I want the user to log inside Joomla. Then they can see links to their Tikiwiki workgroups. I want to make it so they don't have to authenticate again in Tikiwiki. Joomla and Tikiwiki are on the same webserver, i.e. www.mysite.org/joomla and www.mysite.org/tikiwiki.

- I've setup Web Server Anthentication method in Administration:Login.
- In HTTP server name: http://www.mysite.org/joomla.
- I've tick Require secure (https) login even if my website isn't in HTTPs.

By the way is there a way to import a joomla user database inside tikiwiki ?

I've tried various configuration without any success: tikiwiki always ask for login even if the same user/pass is in the tiki and joomla databases. Any help would be greatly appreciated 😉
Best regards
Theo

I believe you are mixing up a lot of things.

Each application (Joomla and TikiWiki) uses it's own database to keep track of user accounts. AFAIK there is no way to import/export a user database from Joomla to TikiWiki and vice versa.

Because each app does have it's own user database, they need to verify the user themselves. There is no common "key" or cookie whatever, to take over a login from Joomla in TikiWiki and vice versa.

The above is probably true for any other web applications.

Solutions are out there, like connecting both apps to a common user database. Usually this is kept in a LDAP directory service. If you do have full control over your webserver you can establish such a directory service. It enables you to login in in any application with the same user and password but only maintain the accounts once.

However, it still doesn't prevent users from login in twice. This can only be handled if both platforms share the same authentication keys. I believe that's a developer effort.

This is why most professional web sites do have custom development, because they need to integrate a lot of different applications ---- or some websites stick with a single app which handles everything.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you can do what you want with any solution out there without digging into customization of the app codes.

Is it possible to develp a bridge component so that it can make Joomla! and Tikiwiki integrated seamlessly togethter?

You know, Joomla! is now more and more popular, but it lacks wiki feature. If Tikiwiki can be bridged with Joomla!, I am sure both of these two softwares will benefit more.

Thanks.
