Newbie has a couple of questions...

I'm one of the webmasters at www.repeater-builder.comQuestion, a resource for people that build radio repeater systems - be they commercial 2-way, public safety (i.e. police and fire), or ham radio.

Our current web site has over 650 web pages that have been all created using notepad (or similar) over the last 5 years. A typical page is at
<http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorola/genesis/genesis-index.html>
The only scripting in the pages is the "last edited date" line at the end of each page.

One unusual page is at <http://www.repeater-builder.com/ge/lbi-master-list.html>, which indexes over 1600 PDF files (over 1.8gb) for download.

My question is this: It there ANY way to easily import these 650 static pages into a new, virgin Wiki?? I can't be the first person that wants to convert a large static site.

Second is this: is there a crib sheet somewhere on configuring a new wiki? We want to limit the change permissions to 4-5 people.

Thanks in advance

Mike

There's an HTML to wiki converter at http://diberri.dyndns.org/wikipedia/html2wiki/index.htmlQuestion. The web form does one page at a time; I don't know if there's a script somewhere to run through a site or group of files and do them all.

Tiki's default maximum wiki page size is 64KB, so you'd have to modify the tiki_pages table to change the column type to a larger capacity if your pages exceed that.

About the editing perms, see Permissions SettingsQuestion. Basically, you can give editing permission (tiki_p_edit) to whatever group (the default "Registered" group or a newly created group) you want to have it, and make the 4 or 5 editors members of that group.

The docs site has other information on wiki syntax, navigation, and so on. I hope this will get you started. Maybe others can add info on site conversion.
