Changing IP number

My ISP offers web pages but not PHP support and they frown on private http servers and block port 80. This is Australia we are still a bit backward here.
To get round it, I use the web pages of the ISP and redirect to my home server on the allocated IP on port 8080 and also have Apache listen on 8080. That all works.

The trouble is that all the TikiWiki page URLs must reference my home servers IP on port 8080. Thats all fine until my ISP changes the IP that is allocated to my machine. This isn't very often but when it does change I have to go through all my TikiWiki pages and change the IP number on all links to my TikiWiki pages.

One solution might be getting my server to run its own DNS and use a DNS name in the tiki pages rather than an IP number. I've had a bit of a go and it looks like a fair bit of work. I'm hoping to find an easier solution within the TikiWiki

I notice there is a TikiWiki variable but it only operates in the test of a Wiki pages, Is there a way of introducing a variable into a URL so I only need to change one item rather than lots of items.

How about using relative links 😁
We use them on our system and it works (migration to another server for testing purposes worked fine).

You can change your statically stored links when you export your tiki-DB, replace all http://mylocalsite/tiki/page.phpQuestion with page.php
