Re: Speed Issues

Your home page displayed in 5 to 7 seconds in my test — Opera 9 visiting the site for the first time (memory and disk caches turned off), 100Mbps local line on my end here in Tokyo. For comparision, the en.wikipedia.org/dog page loaded in 8 seconds. Some other Tiki page load times:

zukakakina.com 9
themes.tw.o 11
doc.tw.o 7
tikiwiki.org 10
keycontent.org 6
de.tw.o 10
also
drupal.org 10
mediawiki.org 6

Firefox 2 took somewhat longer in general. IE6 was way slower for all sites, three times longer for yours, twice as long for most.

Your site seems to be in the ballpark for Tiki sites, which in general can be slower to load than sites where there are fewer db queries due to permissions not needing to be checked and so on. Doggipedia page refreshes (with caches off) were as fast as 4 seconds. Naturally, slower connections will result in longer lags in complete page displays.

If possible, it'd be interesting to compare how other CMS software performs on your server since, if there is a bottleneck, it could be on that end.
