How do you? mysite.com/customname ?

How do you create custom file name for a user? Example: www.mysite.com/customfile name and have it show up in a general search “Custom file name???.

Let's say a user has an interest in “frogs??? and wants to have their own page that only they can edit and it’s on frogs? Example only: www.animalswiki.com/frogs and have the search bring up the page on frogs?

Thanks, Tony.

Wiki pages aren't actually files; they're info stored in the database. But anyway, please see Using Wiki Pages for how to create new ones.

Maybe setting "Page creators are admin of their pages" on the Admin Wiki page (tiki-admin.php?page=wiki) does that, but I haven't tested it. In any case, once the page is created, it'll be shown in the search wiki page module.

And you might be interested in the Apache rewrite rules... See http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Documentation and search for rewrite rules...
And ask, if needed, on mod_rewrite forums on the web for help, if you can't go further in tw forums... (most of us are not expert on mod_rewrite...)

Hi Xavi, Gary, and Tony,

I guess Tony wanted to know whether we can create multiple sites from the same TikiWiki server. For example, If we have installed Wikiserver, then can we create two separate sites named "Development" and "Testing" from the same server, which could be accessed via the following URLs:

Am I right Tony??? Even if not, any suggestions to accomplish the same.

Regards,
Arun Bamania.

I want to set up a site that user can have and edit their own webpage on my site.

Example would be friendly URL www.mysite.com/poolservice and the webpage is about pool service and it links the owner’s business website “Big Joe’s Pool Service???.
The user can change and edit their own material and put up links and images with basic editor.

I'm trying for SEO and will be trying some of these ideas.

Should I upgrade to the new Beta Tikiwiki?

thanks, Tony.

Hi All,

I want to know whether we can create multiple sites from the same TikiWiki server. For example, if we have installed WikiServer, can we create two separate sites named "Development" and "Testing" from the same server, which could be accessed by the following URLs:

Suggestions are most welcome!

Do you mean running two completely separate sites (each with their own database) on the same physical web server? That's very easy.

  1. Create a separate MySQL database for each "site"
  2. Install the Tiki zip into a separate subdirectory for each "site"
  3. Run the installer for each "site" and select the appropriate database.

Or you can use subdomains to accomplish the same thing. Two of my tikis http://www.stc-carolina.org/newsletter and http://www.stc-carolina.org are running on the same webserver — but are two separate sites.

HTH,

-Rick
