Webmail locks up browser

I am working on a couple sites using TikiWiki. I cannot get the webmail feature to work at all.

The system will successfully SEND email notifications, watches and contacts.

BUT If i define a webmail address for a user, then that user can NEVER access the site again. The browser gives the hourglass - forever. Closing the browser and trying later does not help.

I can gain access again my manually deleting the webmail account, then closing ALL browsers on the computer, and accessing the site again.

I am using the Sirius version. It is running on apache2 on an ubuntu linux box. The problem manifests itself in windows or in linux, in IE or firefox, and with several different installations of tikiwiki.

I'm at a loss 😕cratchhead:

Not sure if this will help (I'm just a power user not a programmer) but after I turned on "use challenge response authentication" it locked everyone out. I had to go back to the database and manually change that field.

Thanks for the idea. I double-checked and I'm not using the challenge response function.

My users aren't locked out, they just get nothing, and ONLY if they have activated an email account in webmail.

By nothing, I mean nothing. The progress bar doesn't move, the screen is blank, and it will sit there forever. I have literally let it sit there for hours.

For the record, I'm not sure I'm a power user or programmer either, so I'm really going to need someone to throw me a big bone here. I am using tikiwiki for our Chamber of Commerce, my local Rotary Club and a group trying to get a municipal pool started. I really want to use the "groupware" features, but I think email is important for that. You will notice (from another thread) I am having a common problem with XML on the same sites using IE as well that is preventing IE users from submitting articles or editing wiki pages and I am wondering if there is a relation?

The webmail feature has been buggy on and off for quite a while, at least in my Tiki installations. Unless somebody has better information, I suggest not using it at all.

(EDITED} I should add that I have webmail turned on and account information filled in at a couple of Tiki 1.9.8 and 1.10 sites and, although webmail doesn't seem to work right (maybe set-up information is wrong — I haven't looked at it carefully in a long time), there's no problem using the sites otherwise. I mean I'm not experiencing the problems you describe, and I haven't seen other people reporting that. So I'd guess there's some specific problem at your server and not necessarily a Tiki webmail bug, or some combination of the two.
