maketoc not working

I am trying to get { maketoc } working simply by placing { maketoc } at the top of my page.

Although is working and generating a table of contents, all that { maketoc } does is to literally echo { maketoc } — no table of contents.

It is almost as if it doesn't recognize { maketoc } as something legal.

My pages are created with the WYSIWYG editor and I am running version 2.2

Is there a plugin I have to install? Something to add-in? Something I forgot to check in the configuration?

I know I have the right syntax because it works here. The following line simply says { maketoc }

I think this might be a clue......

I believe that { maketoc } can not be inserted using the WYSWIG editor. It seems to work only if you use the WIKI editor.

If so... is this a bug or is it working as designed?

Hello,

The wysiwyg editor is still experimental in 2.2 - the only functions that I have seen work in the wysiwyg editor is hyperlinking wiki pages, html links and embedding files from the image and file galleries into wiki documents.

I would use the wiki editor for now.

Medha

Thanks for the information.

I would say that from the point of view of expanding the appeal of TW, it is going to be important to get the WYSIWYG editor up to speed as soon as possible. A lot of folks who want to participate in communities like we are building are not really ready to figure out yet another editor scheme that, although elegant and quick, is not as friendly as one would like it to be. Most of them are familiar with TinyMCE or some similar editor.

Still fighting the {maketoc} issue:

1) Wont work if you have both title="title" and showhide=y options

2) Don't use the a phrase with "Page..." in the title option like {maketoc:title="On this page..."}

3) More than one {maketoc} won't work (e.g. one at the top and one at the bottom of your page)

4) Have never gotten it to work with more than one option (like "title" and "showhide". What is the correct syntax??
