admin validation email setup and configured but not working properly!

Hello,

I currently enabled need admin validation as its not working and i have a valid email account setup for admin. I am running the latest centos and tikiwiki2.4 with firefox latest version. I have linux firewall turned off and disabled SELinux. So when a new user registeres, admin should receive the email in which they dont. But if i login to tikiwiki with my admin and password, i can see that a new user is waiting approval and will approve it and sometimes it will send me a email saying its been confirmed and sometimes not. I have no idea about this as maybe someone can help me out. I am running a vmware server where i have this installed with centos and im connected to it from my local desktop machine but the ip address. http://192.168.250.82/tikiQuestion and it will connect fine and i can log in. I have sent a test message from the linux prompt and that part is working just fine too. Here are my screenshots showing you my configurations.

Enjoy the site!

How come they are not getting that email back as they sign up with a valid email.

Josh

best regards,
your Tikiwiki

Have you checked your mail logs? Is an email being sent? Did the user provide a valid address?

To test, try turning off the "needs admin validation" option in the Admin: Login page. Then try to register as a new user. Do you receive the registration email from Tiki?

I'm not sure what your issue is. I can determinately say that the validation process works for me on my 2.x and 3.x installations.

Rick,

I just ran the mailq command from the command prompt and its showing this.

connection refused by smpt.stoneagle.com jb...@st... which is wrong. I am not sure where its getting this information from though. I have registered on the tiki site jb...@st... with 2 E's instead of 1. I have ran the service sendmail restart command and then sendmail restarts fine. I also opened up sendmail.mc and highlighted out exposed_user('root')dnl and now i can send email from the command line to other emails at my company and they go through by the valid admin email is still not showing up. When i new user signs up, admin doesnt receive an email but when i log into tikiwiki website with admin and go to users, I can see a new user signed up and a validate them from there and they receive an email saying that there account has been created. What do you think my issue could be now. Under the Login group on tiki, i have the users can register checked, but need admin validation checked, and under general in sender email i have jb...@st... and contact user is jbrewster. Do i need the validate users by email checked to as i dont have that and didnt think i would need it.

Josh

Oh I just cleared the mailqued log and i can also do a mail -s Test jb...@st...

Ok now emails are working fine in my local network but when i try to send email outside of network and check the sendmail log it will show connection refused to gmail and yahoo. Do i need to set something up for the outside emails to work?

It sounds like you have something misconfigured with your mail. Tiki simply uses the PHP @mail function. Check the configuration of your php.ini file... there's nothing else really to configure.

Note that the Tiki 3.0 installer now includes a mail check to test for proper connectivity.
