Account Disabled after users click validation link

New user accounts are all disabled. How is this fixed?
When a new user registers on the site, they get an email with a validation link. They click on the validation link and may use the site. Later, when they try to log in, they cannot log in and get an "Account Disabled" message (screeen capture attached).
I'm running a clean install of Tiki 4.0 upgraded to tiki 4.1.
I've also seen this mentioned in the bug reports here and here.

What is the fix for this?
(seems kind of important for a new site to be able to accept new users)

Thanks,
Ari

I tried running the sql statement in the link you provided
update users_users set waiting=NULL where waiting is not NULL and valid is NULL;
However, it did not change the login behavior on the website. (also, phpMyAdmin listed 0 affected rows after running the statement)

Is there any fix available for this? It seems other sites are having the same issue as well.

(bump...)

More than a month after this bug has been posted
Reported by a number of users since then
I can't find a reply with a solution in this forum or in the bug reports
So far I can't see an update, patch or fix

Tiki is a great project, really lots of features. If a new site set up with Tiki can't even accept new users, then it simply can't be used

Have you tried to install another 4.1 test site with a new database and then run through the registration checks? If all went well with the new 4.1 test site, then you could assume your current 4.1 site is the issue.

Thanks,
A clean upload and install of 4.1 from scratch works

This is not acceptable to do a clean upload and install of 4.1. I've done an upgrade from 3.3 to 4.1 and I get this issue. Nobody has a fix for this?

I scoured the forums and the bug reports and didn't find any answers that worked for my site. I just ended up having to start from scratch with 4.1.

I got it to work... I ran the SQL query listed in the release notes and it seemed to fix the problem.

I just encountered it on a site upgraded to 4.1.

I dont know if this is related too your problem but.
We updated a 2.3 to 4.1 version and lost about 20% of the users.
They would get the message you attached.
It took a while but I found that email confermation puts a u into field waiting.
Further testing found that all users with a "a" in the waiting field had the problem.
I changed all a to empty field and they work now.
I have never seen a chart of what all the tables and fields do.
In 2.3 evry thing worked and I dont know how the a got into waiting but when I took it out all worked fine.

Hope this helps - Emmett
