Unable to validate any e-mail of new members

Hello,

Each try of creating a new registered member, he gets the message at the registration return :

"Your email could not be validated; make sure you email is correct and click register below."

and nobody can register.

As this message don't give any information for admin there is no way to find which parameter can be involved.

I try to find the message into sources, but as it is an array the messages are sent by their number into the array. I need to make a dump of the language array with the record number to find what is the error origin.

This occurs for any e-mail.

Thank you for help

Best regards

Trebly, Hey, I am just new user so "chew the meat and spit out the bones" here. I went through a tough go of registration validation with tiki 4.0. What version are you using? There is an upgrade...tiki 4.1

I found that even in tiki 4.1 I could not get my Hotmail accounts validated. So I just unchecked Validate user's email server. Email server validation is not necessary but it is a nice touch. Even though the email server validation failed, if you uncheck email server validation, and use the same email address that failed in the email server validation, the registration will go through...provide it is a valid email address.

Hello,
I use 4.1.

Thank's, You are right.

Here I extend your answer because yesterday I reached the same point.

I have to code and track the functions from the message.

If Validate user's email server is checked (may be default)

- the DNS of the domain is checked

- the Php function "fsockopen" is used to test to open servers with a timeout of 15s.

This function is very useful if there are problems to send email, if not it is just the e-mail syntax which is checked.

It can be used during test of a TIKIWIKI implementation or permanently.

There are two problems :

  1. the error message which is :

"Your email could not be validated; make sure you email is correct and click register below." is completely out of subject it should be for example :
"The check of the mail-server for your e-mail had failed. This can provide from an error of mail, a not reachable server or a too long answering server the error code is : xxxx (all cases : invalid domain, servers tested, errno returned, because if these information are not available the test don't help the webmaster).

This generally presumes that the mail will not reach is destination. If this persist and you are sure of your e-mail, please join your provider and if the mail server is right join the TikiWiki webmaster."

  1. When this occurs all the registering fails, your data's are lost. So the "register" should be in my opinion be split into :

- ignore (the mail will be send and if not reach is destination at the login the system will propose to resend the mail)
- go back to registering form
- cancel (stop registering and ignore new user)

This text his for dev team and for user to well understand the meaning of the check mail server option.

Best regards
