    • Admin - Configurable User Profile Fields

    Hello,

    I am looking at using Tiki for my travel-related site, and one of my requirements is to have some fairly customized user profile fields, such as:
    -the CURRENT country of residence? (in addition to the user's nationality)
    -whether or not the user would be willing to host someone for 2 days
    etc...

    These are not part of the standard user profile, and I don't see how I could configure this type of option.

    Questions:
    Is there a way to do this / has this been done?
    If not, and I have to customize my version of Tiki to do this, what would I have to look into changing?

    I am using TW for a family networking website which is closed to the public. We want to be able to store extensive user information such as:

    - home add
    - work add
    - phone (home / cell / work)
    - email (home / work / etc.)
    - other web contact info (yahoo / aol / etc.)

    I posted this request on the mods.tikiwiki.org website and hopefully someone will development a kind of: AddressBook for a user group.

    (if this is already a feature and I just can't find it, please inform me!)

    Also, Damian, I looked at the ReleaseProcess19 and did not see the feature yet. I will keep looking for it... thanks.

    Hi Erik

    Funny you should post this, I was talking to mose this morning on the IRC channel. Its something that is underway and should see an appearance in 1.9

    If you interested in taking the code and backporting it to a 1.7 or 1.8 tiki keep checking the ReleaseProcess19 page for it appearing 😀

    Any idea if this user data fields addition will be made anytime soon? Is it a whole other section now... (ie. Address Book) or is it under "Users" and just more fields added...

    This idea might be an approach for bluearc21 but I am not sure if I understand your needs eyewell! Does this info need to connect to the groups profile or can it be stand alone?

    Have you looked at the trackers as an option. I use these a lot for user info. They are extreamly versitial and very searchable. As well they can have perms assigned about who can view + edit ect.. The great thing is that you can have all your own custom fields. I am clearly a fan of trackers and use them for guestbooks, helpdesks, directories....

    As well it seems that you can use a plug-in to extract the information from them. So you can put the info into a wiki page. (I have know idea how, YET)

    Its in CVS HEAD now, using the new Trackers options. Grab yourself the CVS or a tarball and take a look!

    Its under 2 items called User Trackers and Group Trackers and each allows you to store new information either based on user or group.

    The documentation is currently underway in french on fr.tw.o and I think the english translation is happening in the process as well.

    This feature probably wont make it back into 1.8.1 as the trackers have had a huge overhaul for 1.9
