Trouble connecting DB after upgrade

Hi!

I upgraded from 3.x to 5.3, upload went smooth, install script running, but i canot get a DB connection. I can log into the DB (mysql 5) with the username/password from phpmyadmin. When i connect to "localhost" on my server, get an "access denied" (but i am not sure if its trying to connect to MY database or just any of th eprovider). Trying to connect to 127.0.0.1:3307 as it was in the old local.php file, i get Error SQLSTATEHY000 2005 Unknown MySQL server host '127.0.0.1:3307'.

Sugestions?

The information was correct in the old file. I can log into the DB with phpmyadmin.

Is there a /db/local.php file already? I am just running the install script of a fresh installation and it does not accept the input in the fileds (host, db-name, username, password), either not finding a DB or refusing to connect.

EDIT: It also refuses to connect to a fresh DB (or is unable to).

And it is very, very, very annoying to have the index page point to the installation script. The site is stuck in installation mode and i got mail from several users trying to log on, asking me what they should input into the "database name" field, etc.

I creadted a local.php file int /db/ with the code it is supposed to have (cannot post it here, forums seems to hate code and i cannot find the tags to put around it). It does either not find a DB or is unable to connect, now giving me a tikiwiki error "Tiki is unable to connect to the database" instead of an install script error.

Update:
My provider took a look into it. They say that "localhost" is not correct, i should onnect to 127.0.0.1:3307 with my mysql5 database. They say putting that adress into my local.php file did not do any good, but a quick php script that connects to my database from my webspace with that adress is working.

Told me to ask you guys for support, seems all to be working over there??!

Please help!

Hi again,

I got no idea what they did to connect to the database, but obviously it's working with their script and for me with mysqladmin webpage. Tiki seems to be able to connect somwhere but not establish a connection.

They told me that they are running both, mysql 4 and 5 databases:

MySQL 5: Datenbank Servername => 127.0.0.1 | Datenbank Port => 3307
MySQL 4: Datenbank Servername => 127.0.0.1 | Datenbank Port => 3306

If i connect to "localhost", it will try to connect to the standard DB which runs mysql4 DB's (which I do not have access to, access denied error). When i input '127.0.0.1:3307' tikiwiki somehow does not want to connect at all.

Could it be that tiki does handle the port numbers in a strange way? That I need to input something else/change a part of configuration?

Anyone any idea? Please help!
