Forgot password

Hi all,

I've installed tikiwiki two month ago and wanted to start setting it up now. However I can't remember the admin password. Probably I'll just need rerun the install script, or is there another way to find out the admin password?

Sschnubbel

Hi,

Only if you have given admin an email address, (see a post on the forums about that) and enabled remind pass by email on admin->login

There is a way to manipulate it in the database, but I cant remember off the top of head.

Damian

I've not yet started configurating it, so there is no password reminder. So I've deleted the database and I asked my server admin to delete the whole tikiwiki folder again. But still this does not work. What did I wrong? How can I completle restart the setup procedure?

Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi Simon,

Have you re-run the tiki-install.php?

Damian 😎

you might want to join us on irc.freenode.net #tikiwiki to get some rapid answers, otherwise Im never far away 😊

Yes, I did rerun the the tiki-install.php. After giving the information for the database, I come to the welcome screen where I have to login.

Simon

Ok, what stage is your tiki installation at now?

What do you have unzipped where, and whats the contents of the db?

What I've done is the following: I've previously run the setup.sh and initiated the db. Then I created a admin account (that was in november). Now I wanted to start the configuration, but my password didn't work anymore (well, forgot the right one).

Then I rerun the setup.sh and went to tiki-install.php and reentered the database infos. This lead me back to tiki-index.php where I'm asked the password. So I deleted the database and run tiki-install.php again, but again I come back to a webpage where I'm asked the admin password.

So right now I have all my files untared and run the ./setup.sh and initiated the database, but still unable to give a new admin password, so unable to configure anything.

I guess that the admin password is hidden somewhere in a file that is created by the setup.sh and that is not in the usual folder with all the other files. The question is where.

Hi Simon,

If you have deleted the database and run tiki-install.php again, entered your database connection details and clicked the create new profile button, then the default logon would be admin/admin.

If however you have just removed the source untard and only entered the database connection details, then the old password for admin would still be around.

Ok, heres the details for giving admin an email address and also enabling the remind by email password feature 😀

In the users_users table edit the admin record and complete the email address field.
In tiki_preferences table search for forgotPass and set to y

You may also need to set the sender_email address depending on how your mailserver is setup.

Let me know how you get on with those

Damian

Hi Damian,

I didn't expect it to be that easy. Sometimes you are just searching too far.

Many thanks

Simoin

After a tragic office rebuild (looks great, now what happened to ALL OF OUR PAPERS?!) I find myself without the password to my Wiki.

I've done the "In the users_users table edit the admin record and complete the email address field." step. 'admin', yup. Put in my email address (it was blank), yup.

However at "In tiki_preferences table search for forgotPass and set to y" I run into a problem, there is no "forgotPass". I've got:

Table tiki_preferences in database tiki
Field nameType Allow nulls? Key
name varchar(40) No Primary
value varchar(250) Yes None

I've tried skipping the 2nd step and just requesting an email to the new address but nothing show up. Any ideas?

Nevermind! Found it it the users_users table, plugged it in, and good to go! Thanks for the old help, led me to the answer.
