Suggest how to use this as an LMS

I am look for suggestions on how to use Tiki as an LMS. I would like to give each course its own homepage. My question is....should I make each course a group? or should I make each course a user? What's the best way to do this?

I am hoping for a place where students can discuss a class, upload files, have their own blog, etc.

I think you should be looking at Categories and Groups — not users.

Ok...here is how this breaks down:

Categories:
This involves making a forum, a blog, and a wiki with a category that is the name of the class. When a student clicks on that category name, he sees everything that has that category. It's not really what you expect to see as a student. You see all kinds of files, forum posts, blog posts, all jumbled together in a heap.

Groups:
This seemed like the obvious choice to me, but it is clear now that groups in Tiki are groups of people with certain privileges. A group doesn't get its own landing place on Tiki with its own forum/blog/file repository/etc.

So....that's kind of where I am on this.

You can have different home pages per group.

Ok...so I setup each class as a group. Then I gave each group its own homepage. So far so good.
But....now when a new user registers at my site, he is able to join a group. Once he joins that group, that group's homepage becomes his homepage. Is there any way to give a user his own unique homepage? Because each user (read student) is going to be in multiple groups. get what I mean?
What would actually make the most sense for me, is to have each user's homepage be his MyTiki page.
