Permission to move files requires File Galleries Admin access?

Tiki 6.3

I need to give a user group permission to move and delte files (from one directory to another) in File Galleries.
This would be by checking the file and utlising the green arrow / red cross icons by the "Perform action with checked" text.

Currently the user group can only see the download a zip icon.

The only way I can get the move and delete icon available is by giving them full Admin access i.e. I can't see a permission to allow them to move / delete files without giving them full admin access (including permissions) and I don't want to do that!

Can this really be the case?

Any suggestions very welcome. A trawl of the Documentation didn't seem to help on this one.

Thanks.

I notice in Tiki now, when you are in File Gallery admin you need to both select a feature (in this case "file gallery" -which makes no sense as you're already there) and also Select Groups that you want to go about assigning permission to in the permissions area.

Assuming your group is showing in the assign permissions area I believe it is the Can Admin File Galleries that gives them the permission to move files. This will not give them admin to the whole site but, even then, I understand the reluctance to allow users the additional access; if they can move files, they can also delete galleries or decide to reorganize things.

Yes, giving admin access to the file galleris isn't a solution, sa you say, it even gives them control over granting permissions themselves to other groups etc.

I am facing the same problem. I wish my members to have the ability to move files in the galleries they own without granting admin privileges, and I cannot see how to do so.

If those in the know tell me that this is indeed the required action, then I will file a change request. I think that the ability to move files should not require admin privileges. It is at the same level as upload and delete, which they can do now. Of course you must check that they have the permission to upload in the target gallery...

Hi,

I did not follow the thread and just stumbled over the post without much time, sorry ...

... this said, I recommend to look at "category permissions", as I blieve categories are made for this (at least since category permissions have been introduced a long long while ago.

It should be possible give the individual personal file galleries individual personal categories and IN THESE CATEGORIES you can st the appropriate permissions to a goup (usergroup.

Last missing link: each user needs its own group.

In short:

Copy to clipboard
user A - group A -- category A - object A user B - group B -- category B - object B user C - group C -- category C - object C
