PROBLEM: No RSS-Feed from Blog

Hi Tikiwikers!

I am a tikiwiki newbee and have installed a brand new 1.75 version on a local PC with Windows XP. I want to test tikiwiki and use it soon on my website.

It works fine. Great Software!

Now I want to use the entries of a blog in a Wiki-page. Should be no problem, but I have following situation:

1. I add a new RSS-Feed with URL: http://localhost/tiki-blog_rss.php?blogId=1
2. I preview the new feed AND ... nothing happens (blank preview)

I tested the function with an external RDF-Feed. It works wonderful (preview and the integration into a Wiki-page).

Any ideas. Please help.

Hi

Can you check that under the Admin->RSS Icon you have the feed for RSS individual weblogs.

You can test it out on my 1.9 test site http://tikigod.org/blog I've enabled the RSS there, seems to work.

Hi Damian,

thx for your quick response.

I use 1.75 production release. Not 1.9.

1. Admin->RSS: I have checked for individual weblogs. It's OK.
2. If I click on the RSS-Button on the mainpage of the blog (with the same URL I set to the RSS-Feed / http://localhost/tiki-blog_rss.php?blogId=1), I get the XML-Data. And it seems OK. Great.
3. But if I add this URL as a RSS-Feed and preview it. Boomm...
4. And if I want to use it in a Wiki-page nothing happens (sure, it is the same problem)

Hiya, ok on http://tikigod.org I have all 3 versions. I've tried feeding the blog RSS of 1.7.5 into 1.7.5 itself and no joy, like you say, nothing. I'll look at the difference between 1.8 and 1.7.5 in the blogging rss later this evening and hopefully get a fix for you.

One problem I've run into is that individual blog RSS feeds list the dates of the posts instead of the titles. One my test site now running a Feb 2 lastiki_HEAD version http://pdc.cunningham-lee.com, viewing a module with the RSS of a blog produces this:

"Garys column --- Title bar
Mon, 02 Feb 2004 03:37:14 GMT --- Link (should be post title)
(Mon, 02 Feb 2004 03:37:14 GMT) --- Date of post
Thu, 08 Jan 2004 07:46:21 GMT
(Thu, 08 Jan 2004 07:46:21 GMT)
Thu, 04 Dec 2003 07:32:09 GMT
(Thu, 04 Dec 2003 07:32:09 GMT)
Thu, 04 Dec 2003 07:30:11 GMT
(Thu, 04 Dec 2003 07:30:11 GMT)"

Not very informative.... wink

Hi!

I believe it do this simply because you have the option to turn off blog titles. It was some options adding to the RSS output area to see if the user wants to see date, title or both.

More Info about this bug.

If you use the RSS-Stream of a Blog in a module than the whole system crashed (WindowsXP). Apache server allocated every 3-5 seconds more than 20 MB RAM.

Bad story. Because you can't start the tikiwiki-App, because the HTTP-Server hang. I changed the ID of the RSS-Feed with phpmyadmin. Than the module can't find the RSS-Stream and the system runs ok. Than I delete the RSS-Stream within tikiwiki.
