Language change destroys layout

Hi,

I have just installed Tikiwiki 1.8 under SafeMode and quite everything works fine now, except for one thing:

I would like the Tikiwiki to display the german translation but whenever I change the language setting to 'deutsch (de)' the layout is completely broken. Actually, it's completely gone. All the texts are there but there are no boxes, no graphics, no tables and everything is neatly stacked on top of each other.

However, precompiling the templates helped a little: Most texts are in german now, only the Menu, the modules and some messages remain in english.

Has anyone had similar experiences?
I can also demonstrate the phenomenon if needed.

Best regards,
Joe

Hi There,

You might find that the German translation isnt 100% completed, I dont know for sure, you could do with getting in touch with paulap01 who I think from memory has had a recent experience similar to this with German language.

Also check that you have chosen a Site wide style in Admin->General or a local style in your users User Preferences. The two work indepentantly. Also try another style to make sure its not a bugged style, you dont say which you are using.

Thanks

Damian

Yes, although it wasn't that - I tested it locally and everything worked quite well.

You're right, sorry, I forgot: I am using sitewide style, user-style is deactivated. Active style is 'neat.css'.

Actually, it's working already. I don't really know what happened, I just tried it again and everything went well. I'll put a bit more research into it and post again when I found what it was.

Thanks for your time,
Joe
