TikiWiki link permalink structure completely changed.. ..

I found an issue which is a huge headache afterupgrading to the newest version of TikiWiki:
It seems the permalink structure has been changed in the newer version of Tikiwiki.
So all links to wiki posts and links to images are now invalid. redfacesad

The old link structure which my system was using was the following:
Wiki link https://domain.com/IT+Project+Management+Tracking or raw html link: https://domain.com/IT%2BProject%2BManagement%2BTracking

All are obviously broken as the new link system seem to require:
https://domain.com_/tiki-index.php?page=IT+Project+Management+Tracking

I haven't even figured out the new link structure for images yet.. So I don't know how they should be constructed. If anyone could update me on that then I would appreciate it a lot.

Obviously and to be frank straight out (sorry for my language); this is a big big butt hurt to say the least.
Is there a quick fix for this or are we really forced to update all links manually (which is a lot if links).

Thanks in advance for the help.
Kind regards

It appears to me you may have had SEF enabled on your old version, if this is the case, simply go to your "Control Panel" then "SEF URL" and make sure that it's activated. Remember, you'll have to rename _htaccess to .htaccess before you switch to SEF URL.

I hope what I outlined above is the issue, sounds like you got a bit of a headache going there. :-)

Sorry for my very slow response time.

So what is a "SEF URL" ? is it like the "pretty perma links" in WordPress.

I'm a bit confused about this because there is already a .htaccess file in the directory.
Tikiwiki Htaccess Files
So is there a difference between those to files?

Sorry for my extremely long response time.
For some reason I never receive notifications from this Tikiwiki forum when somebody responds. It has never worked for me, I don´t know why. But nevermind.. coolbiggrin

Thank you John very much for your kind response and help.

When looking in the SEF section of the control panel it is not enabled.

So should we enabled it? the .htaccess file is there also since way back (2 years or so) and enabled.

Yes, enable it, and change Wiki URL Scheme to Replace Spaces with Dashes. Also, do you have two .htaccess files?

I believe you should be fine with the .htaccess you already have.

Yes, the SEF URL is like the pretty links in Word Press, activating it simplifies your url's so the default url will show the page name. Do you have it activated in your control panel?

Hmm enabling SEF seem to make it even worse.

The pages then generates a 404 on all links:

Copy to clipboard
Not Found The requested URL was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I had to take it off again and disable SEF.

Hmm.. . neutral

This makes it even more complicated then because the links are still failing and I have no idea why it does that in the never version of TikiWiki.
