The Tiki Admin Group (see the current list of admins) has from time to time nominated new admins. In 2016, we’ve decided to establish the process of holding regular nominations annually. This will happen at the end of January each year.
Anyone who is in the Tiki Community can nominate someone else (i.e. not themselves) to join the Admin Group. The period of nominations will run for 2 weeks from February 1 to February 14, 2016. Please send nominations in secret to admin at tiki.org, providing a short paragraph explaining why nominees should be considered. The reason why we have opted for secret nomination is to avoid disappointing any of the nominees in the event they are not accepted for any reason, as they may well be considered again the year after.
Once the nomination period is over, the current Tiki Admin Group will take up to a maximum of 2 weeks to discuss the candidates and arrive at a shortlist that will involve a vote among the admins. The Tiki Admin Group will contact shortlisted candidates individually to determine their level of interest. Once a decision has been made on the new admins, an announcement will be made to welcome them into their new role.
Each year, at the same time nominations for new admins are held, existing admins that have become inactive for a period of over 12 months will be retired into the Elders group. As a matter of process, when an Elder starts being active in various Roles and Teams again, the admins at that time will vote on inviting them back to become an admin. In other words, it is a similar process as being nominated by a member of the community, but there is no need to wait till the end of January for the annual nomination.
We wish to at this point offer our utmost thanks the following retiring admins for their past service. They have personally offered their best wishes and indicated that they hope to be back one day.
