I am not quite sure I understand the difference between articles and wikis within tikiwiki....could anybody shed some light on the technical differences and an example of how would use one or the other?

I think the articles are intended for more "stationary" works, which wouldn't benefit from future revision. Wiki pages by their nature are more open to continuous editing.

One example might be to write an "article" for a user review of a specific product at a specific point in time, and use a "wiki" page to maintain a list of tips and tricks for how to use the product.

A good way to differentiate the two...

  • Articles can be time-sensitive "news" items. You can configure a publication and expiration date for each "article." Visitors (with permission) can:
    • Leave comments on articles
    • Submit new articles (pending approval)

It is important to note that that articles do not maintain a change history.

  • Wiki pages are the "content" pages of your site. Wiki pages have much more fine-grained permission structure than articles.

Is this question and answer in the FAQS? If not, could you please, seromine, include it there:

Thanks in advanced to help us make documentation better... :-)
