Anonymous users unable to view even with permissions

Hello all.

I'm working on setting up my first TikiWiki and have run into a slight issue.

Even though I have given anonymous users every view and read permission I can find, they still cannot view categorized pages inside my category heirarchy.

Now I am hearing it's happening to my registered peeps as well.

I want the general information on the site to be available, even to anonymous users, though they are unable to add or edit any of it.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Below are the permissions granted to each:

I have even gone in and changed all the category permissions to View for Anonymous in all the categories themselves. It is still not working. I thought the global views would allow this? Do I have to do each object individually as well? Even new objects?

Try going to the tiki-admin_system.php page and clearing out the caches.

Once objects are placed into categories they are governed by the permissions of that category. You need only apply permissions to individual objects if they do not match the category in which they are under.

If all you want to do is allow anonymous users to view and registered users to be able to view and edit, it doesn't sound like you need to manage permissions on categories at all. You should just be able to let categories use the global permissions as defined by your user groups. You can quickly identify those categories that have global permissions by the key icon next to them, yellow means global, green means custom/special.

I would personally reset all your categories to use global permissions and just focus on the user groups.

I have exactly the same problem. Not able to let anyone else to access the system (only the homepage) then only an admin.

I'm busy to try this and that, removed all permissions of the groups, use all categories to use global permissions, what ever I do, no use for me and other users.

One thing I must mention. All pages are being created by the Quick Edit textbox. They are not linked then only with the assigned categories. Does that make a difference?

I think I get it.
I removed all the permissions in the categories. It claims that when you remove or add permissions for a category, it does the same with its children.

Well, bad luck, not so. When you remove the permissions of the category, it does not remove them from its children.

Thanks for the reaction, help and support.

🙁I confirm this now. The problem was indeed the permissions from categories.

When you create many categories (like I do), TikiWiki adds several permissions for admin and registered users when you keep the checkbox about permissions. I hope this helps, Darkbee.
