Trouble with Permissions?

Hi:

I'm trying to create a new Template using the following method:
http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page_ref_id=10

Part of the process is to create a new directory for the new theme. However, I can't do that using either an ftp client or CPanel on the server. I get a message that I don't have permissions in spite of the fact that I'm logged in as administrator. Further, I can't change the permissions of the folders either.

So, I decides I'd try to Trick the system, created a whole new folder, copied the contents of Tiki into it and then renamed it to the original installation name. Then TikiWiki wouldn't run. So, I reversed that process and Tiki runs again but all of the "folder" icons in the menu are missing and have been replaced by "+" and "-" signs (see attached image).

1. Why can't I create a new templates folder?
2. Why are the folder icons now missing?
3. Is there a script for resetting the permissions?
3. What's the best way to reset the entire installation to default?

Thanks

If you can't make a new directory or change directory permissions when logged in to your account with an ftp client or the cpanel file manager, then you should contact your server admin or domain hosting company, etc. and find out what the problem. These are basic web site procedures and I've never heard of them not being available to an account holder. These aren't TikiWiki problems, and can't be corrected with anything within TikiWiki. They are server functions that TikiWiki must have available in order to work properly.

The icons are missing in the screenshot because the option to use folder icons isn't selected in your installation. (In TikiWiki 2.2 anyway) go to the Admin > Look and Feel page (tiki-admin.php?page=look) and check "Display menus as folders".

Yes. There is a setperm script (in the Tiki root directory).

Re-run the installer (tiki-install.php) and select to re-install the database.
