How can I upgrade my 2.2 to v2.3 ?

I am using Tikiwiki v2.2 now. I want to upgrade to the latest stable version v2.3, but I did not find a update patch.

How can I upgrade my 2.2 to v2.3 ?

Thanks.

oh my God! That is a big package.

Why not a patch? They forgot to make one, or just because too much changes between these two versions?

If I have to use the entire v2.3 zip file, which file or folder should I exclude when uploading to overwrite my current installation ?

Thanks for your help.

In general, the Tikiwiki project hasn't used patches to update between releases, so a patch not appearing to update to 2.3 wasn't "forgotten" as far as I know, rather not intended. The ones for Tikiwiki 2.* were an exception.

Anyway, the total package for 2.3 is pretty big, but if you are updating with ftp, just set the transfer setting for "overwrite only if source is newer" and most of the files will be skipped. I update a Tiki 3 test installation on almost a daily basis with this method and it just takes a few minutes (and Tiki 3 is quite a bit larger than Tiki 2). There's no need to specify folders or files to exclude — your ftp client should compare file dates and skip the ones that are unchanged.

OK, I am going to use the FTP method.

The FTP client I am using is Filezilla open-source software. I did not find a "overwrite only if source is newer" option, does it has such a feature?

When I asked which file to exclue, I mean, there must be file(s) for installing Tikiwiki, so maybe I need to exclue these install files when updating. Is there any such file?

Thanks.

Baijian, Filezilla should popup a small window when it first encounters a duplicate file, which should happen almost immediately as soon as you start the transfer process. (see the attached image)

Make you sure select all local files by pressing CTRL+A when the local file window (the left pane) has focus. You can then use the right-click context menu to "upload" the files.

In FileZilla, if you want to go the menu first before starting the transfer, under the item "Transfer," there is "Default file exists action..." Then specify "Overwrite if source newer".

Thanks for your help. Now I know how to do the uploading job with Filezilla.
