We don't know what permissions you checked.

Does the group Anonymous have permission to read file galleries? I don't remember if there is a separate permission for downloading (viewing) a file.

Your right about separate permission for downloading (viewing) a file (tiki_p_download_files)
Applied that to the approriate gallery and all OK.
My group permissions do have this assigned so not sure why I have to assign the same permission to particular gallery.
Also, how do I know which permission have been assigned to particular gallery (see attached)?

To find what permissions a gallery has, or to assign permissions, click on the "Permissions" button at the top of a gallery page.
