Move my tikiwiki installation to another server?

Hi, i cannot install tikiwiki to my Webfusion Virtual Private Server. I get the error message "The directory '/var/lib/php5' does not exist or PHP is not allowed to access it (check open_basedir entry in php.ini)" when i try to install (see attached screenshot file).

It appears i do not have the permissions required to do this installation using the tikiwiki install script. As i have no knowledge of SSH to get around this problem i thought i could install tikiwiki 5.1 on my home server and then transfer the whole lot across (inc. database) to my Virtual Private Server.

Well, i installed tikiwiki 5.1 on my home server and then managed the transfer to my VPS quite easily.

I thought i had cracked it!😀.... I was wrong!😑

Back to square one, i still had to go through the installation script despite already doing this first time round on my home server.

Soooo my question is "is there a workaround where i can bypass this install script by manually configuring the setup files?"

Thanks in advance❗

As far as I know, db/local.php is the only file written during the installation process (Tiki configuration settings are stored in the database). Try editing that file from you local installation to reflect the database connection info for your remote installation. If that doesn't fix the problem, then maybe there is some environment condition at the remote installation that prevents Tiki from running correctly.

Thanks for the reply Gary. I did check the db/local.php file and everything reflects the database connection info for my remote installation. So i don't really see where the problem is here.😕 When i run the installation script as shown in the attached screenshot file the message i get is pointing me to run some commands using SSH but as i have never used SSH i am at a stuck..!

The error message indicates that Tiki cannot access the php5 directory (PHP is required for Tiki to run on your server).

Some things to check:

  • Look at your php.ini file and confirm that the path to ../php5/ is correct
  • If the location is correct, review the permissions for the directory and confirm that Tiki has access to it.

If you're on a hosted server, you may need to check with your webhost for details.

Thanks for the replies. I have successfully installed tikiwiki 5.1 now. I simple accessed the server via shell (SSH) which was a steep learning curve for me as i had never done this before and followed the on screen instructions that the installer was telling me to do all along. Sweet! tikiwiki rules!!! 😊
