Adding new pages... how?

I've looked, and looked, and looked in as many parts of the admin area, and moused-over as many seemingly relevant things as possible. I've been trying to find a way to add pages, but I have not been able to find anything. So far, all I can do is have the first page, the homepage, for guests and visitors to look at. I cannot find a way to add a page for Contact Information, About Us, or anything else for that matter. I've discovered how unhelpful the mouse-over information is, which has only added to my aggravation. Trying to use tiki-wiki has been too time consuming, so that's why as a last resort I'm asking here.

I've got the blog function working, and I don't need the other functions like forums, picture galleries and such, just an ability for admin and certain other authorised people to add pages to the tiki-website.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe it's not clear if it's your first time editing a wiki but, as far as I know, the standard way to make a new wiki page (not just in Tiki) is to edit an existing page, adding the syntax for a link to the new page, and saving. When it refreshes, the edited page will show your link followed by a question mark that indicates it's a link to a page that doesn't (yet) exist. Click this question mark, and you're off to edit the new page.

This is detailed on http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Using+Wiki+Pages#Creating_a_Wiki_PageQuestion, which incidentally, was pretty easy to find using Google.

There are other ways to make new wiki pages in Tiki, such as the Quick-edit module, by creating a wiki structure, by typing into the browser address bar a URL like "tiki-editpage.php?page=Name of my new page" and so on. I use the last one the most.

I see, now. Thanks.

Tiki is powerful and with that power comes a bit of a learning curve. It would be too long to explain how here but I'd suggest using Modules (in admin menu)for your About and Contact Us boxes -then they are always up in the left or right columns.

You'll need to set Permissions for editing pages. Look for a little key icon in various places around Tiki. You can set up groups, assign users to those groups and then give the groups permission levels. This way you do not need to assign permission on a per user basis. So set up a "trusted editor" group and assign only those people to it.

Note that Admin is kind of divided -if you click the Admin Home you'll get a bunch of icons for certain areas including Features and look and feel... Underneath the Admin Home choice in the left menu are other settings.

If you don't need image galleries and other such features you can turn them off in the Features section off the admin area. You might also poke around in the Wiki settings.
