Cannot upgrade 21.x to 24.x - need a fresh install?

Hi all,

We have version 21.5 on our environments - we want to upgrade to 24.x

Our sysadmin indicated that we need to do a fresh install and cannot upgrade directly. This is because this is a major upgrade?

Is there any way / workaround for this so we don't lose all of our configurations / data?

Hello Leena,

You don't have to loose any data when updating, upgrading or doing a fresh install.
The data and settings are in the database and Tiki scripts take charge of updating it when moving up.

I have relayed this into our sysadmin. We are attempting the install sometime in the next day. Hopefully we won't run into problems but if we do we will reach out again :-)

Just a quick update - we are on 21.5 now, attempting to get onto 21.6, the sysadmin powers that be advised that we will wait till v25 is out before we do a major upgrade. Thank you :-)

I'm also unable to upgrade past 21.5. 21.6 and newer doesn't work for me and I have to restore. I'm just waiting until I see any possible fixes for this.

Hello Jeffrey, I did several updates and no issue.

Please open a new thread and describe exactly what issue you have (screenshot if possible). I'll try to help.

I finally successfully upgraded. I figured out that when I was doing the installer from the public facing web address it would do a blank page after the installation. But if I accessed the installer from the server itself through the localhost page rather than domain it would work just fine. The only other think I had to do was install php-intl to get the newer version to work.
