Database documentation

I want to make the forums threaded, but with 171 tables it's a bit crazy figuring out where everything goes. I want to make sure I don't miss anything. Are there any docs explaining the DB layout? Which tables do what? Which fields are used for what? Even something just describing which tables the forums use would help a lot.

Thanks 😊

Forums use tiki_comments and the only real developer documentation is the code itself. Documenting is a bore, coding is much more fun 😀

Thanks for your reply. I figured out most of the forum stuff, but will have to wade through the templates for the rest. It looks like everything's laid out in a way that will make it easy to hack.

FYI, my plan is to add a "new reply" button to each post (not just thread topic) so it will be in the database in a way that will allow for threading: each reply has a parentId of the post where the "new reply" button was clicked. From there it should be simple to make the getReply() function (whatever it's called... haven't got there yet) recursive to build the thread.

I'm doing this because I've found that threaded forums are easier to read at a glance for low-traffic forums. Flat forums come into their own when you get above ~150 posts per day.
