upgrading 1.9rc1 to 1.9rc2

I'd just like to inform you that upgrading from 1.9rc1 to 1.9rc2 involves the following steps:

  1. backup, backup, backup
  2. extract files from downloaded archive
  3. copy them to tiki directory
  4. check permission and ownership (or use the script)
  5. load tiki-install.php in your browser
  6. run the 1.8->1.9 upgrade script

So far, all as should be expected. But these additional steps are also needed but not documented:

  1. copy the SQL errors to a textfile and check each of them
  2. fix problems where needed. Pay attention to the scoring system because this is NOT correctly upgraded!!!

Good luck... confused

Excellent, :-)

However, its just another reason why you shouldnt run the RC series, which is a test release, on a production site. Wait for it to go final

So, you are telling me that tech-enthousiast like myself shouldn't run the very latest and perhaps not so stable TikiWiki on non-critical sites in order to do some "live" tests of all the new features and report any possible issues at the developers question

I'm very sorry but people like me are essential to open source projects, you devs need our feedback and encouragements and sometimes a firm kick in the b... if you take "our" project somewhere we don't like. cool
You guys thrive on caffeine and adrenaline, and I hope you get a warm, fuzzy feeling when you read this mail, either from your hot coffee or from another adrenaline rush because now you remember why you're not tinkering at cars. (though from your personal page I have learned that you do that also...)
