Forum setup problems

When I attempt to start the Forums module in Tiki Administration, it never seems to take. The Tiki Administration page will refresh after clicking on Update, and shows Forums as checked. But if you go to any other page and come back, Forums is now an unchecked item. Also, Forums never shows up in the menu on the left.

Is there something else I need to enable before Forums will be operable?

That's odd. If there is no way you can get it to stick you could try to hack the feature in the MySQL database. Look for the feature_forums record in your tiki_preferences table. Change the field value from n to y

Pat.

And here's something odder. The feature_forums record is already set to "y". I have found that most changes on this page have to be done twice in order to show up as checked on the page. But this is the only change so far that has not worked at all.

Any more ideas?

Brian

Do you have any custom permissions set for the forums in your Admin panel? Otherwise I cannot see why it doesn't work 😕

The 'double update' problem is 'normal' Tiki behaviour. I think it is in the Tiki 1.8 release roadmap to be fixed.

Pat.

I can't get to that to make any changes. I'm confused, too.

Pat,

I went back and changed the setting to "n" and then added the feature (Forums) back in on the "Admin" page. It added the "y" back in the database, but it still will not show up as an option in the menu. Anymore ideas as to what might cause this? Could I be missing a permission somewhere? It shows up neither for admin or regular registered users.
