> Has anyone customised/hacked tiki specifically to support large projects?

Yes, mods.tikiwiki.org is supposed to be set up along those lines. Earlier, content at that site was organized according to projects, each of which had a team, etc., but it seems like progress there got delayed and things haven't been restored. I believe the code will be included with maybe Tiki 1.10. It's been mainly Damian's project, I think, so he'd be the guy to contact about it.
