edit a theme?

Is there an easy way to make a little modification to a theme? Basically, i would just like to add a "main picture" to the defaul theme(after intalling), think it is called neat?

Thanks again,
Jussi

Yes, you can edit the appropriate file in the templates/styles/neat/ directory — maybe tiki.tpl or tiki-top_bar.tpl, depending on where you want to put the picture. tiki.tpl lays out the whole page and tiki-top_bar.tpl is to display the line at the page top.

See Template OverviewQuestion for more information on editing template files.

CAn i do it just by going to http://mysite.com/tiki/tiki-edit_templates.phpQuestion and just editing tiki-top_bar.tpl? Does this editing remove all the content from the site, i think i saw something like that written somewhere? Or deos the removing of content just happen when i change the whole theme?

Thanks again,

Editing a template file doesn't remove any content, which is mostly stored in the database. The template (.tpl) files only affect the visual layout and function of the page.

I don't use on-site template editing myself, but I assume you can edit tiki-top_bar.tpl there. Keep in mind that if the Neat theme uses its own tiki-top_bar.tpl file (templates/styles/neat/tiki-top_bar.tpl), so that's the one you should edit, not the one in templates directory. In case anything goes wrong and the edited file causes problems, you can save a copy locally before doing the edit, or just upload another copy from the Tiki package.
