RSS Feeds - authentication?

I'm sure this must have been addressed, but how do I authenticate when trying to pull RSS feeds? I am using RSS Bandit and of course when I try to pull the feed I get the following:

Tiki RSS Feed Error Message: Permission denied you cannot view this section

There is a built-in authentication function, but it doesn't seem to help. Everything seems enabled on the "Admin RSS Feeds" screen. Help? TIA...

Actually your first pass is correct - I am trying to read my own forums' generated RSS feeds. There is only a username/password field in RSS Bandit, no options for selecting 1.0/2.0/Atom/whatever, so I'm not sure what can be changed to authenticate against WikiTiki any differently than about 20 other syndications I pull with RSS Bandit. Yet regardless of what name/password I provide, I get...

Tiki RSS Feed Error Message: Permission denied you cannot view this section

...when trying to pull my own feeds. I must be missing something? I assume I've missed a post somewhere where this may have been addressed, but I can't scour posts anymore, I'm going a little batty. Help?

I was afraid that would be the case... So I granted tiki_p_forum_read permission to group Anonymous, but still I am getting denied. Further ideas?

I was afraid that would be the case... So I granted tiki_p_forum_read permission to group Anonymous. I can read the forum list if I link directly to it as an anonymous visitor, but if I click on the RSS button I get denied, and acordingly I still get denied through my RSS reader.

It sure would be nice to get this working as anonymous, and even more so if I could actually secure the feed so only authorized users could pull it, but first things first. Any further guidance?

What Tiki version are you using? Normally, anonymous visitors can see Tiki's RSS feeds. Try doc.tw.o forum RSSQuestion for example. This suggests an installation or configuration problem at your site.

For comparison, doc.tw.o, which is an up-to-date 1.9.9 installation, has these perms set for anonymous group:
tiki_p_forum_read
tiki_p_read_article
tiki_p_read_comments
tiki_p_view
tiki_p_view_categories
tiki_p_view_faqs
tiki_p_view_image_gallery
tiki_p_view_sheet
tiki_p_view_shoutbox
tiki_p_view_stats
tiki_p_view_trackers
tiki_p_wiki_view_attachments
tiki_p_wiki_view_comments
tiki_p_wiki_view_history
tiki_p_wiki_view_ratings

The default RDF version there is RSS 2.0.

That did work, I somehow flubbed the setting for the "read forum" permission.

Just to make it official, does this mean that RSS feeds can't be secured, and that any forum RSS feed can be pulled by strangers in every case? Thanks for the help...

Hello,

I am running into this same problem with TikiWiki 2.0. We cannot make all of our content viewable by anonymous, and furthermore - we have LDAP authentication and permissions set by categories.

It seems that we cannot authenticate and retrieve RSS Feeds from the wiki. Is this in fact the case? This is a huge problem - because development will not be able to poll last changes via an rss reader. Help!

No, he isn't.

He has a private content in his wiki that he wants to get updates for via rss without providing access to anonymous users. For this to work, the rss module in tiki needs to support authenticatiom, and doesn't.

There have been patches created for previous versions of tiki but it has never made it into the main code for some reason.
