Technorati updating problem?

Has anyone else had problems with Technorti not registering updates, even after manually pinging?

They suggested this fix to me, which is a little annoying:
Hello Mike,

Please accept my sincerest apologies for the delay in getting back to you. We've been experiencing a backlog in support and
are working hard to address everyone. I've taken a look at the issue regarding indexing for "wikumentary.net/tiki-
view_blog.php?blogId=1".

I noticed that we are having trouble parsing the data in your blog and identifying your posts. So that we may be able to better
index your blog, please try adding additional code to your blog to better identify your individual posts by adding permalinks and
rel="bookmark" to your post
titles. For example:

Add the rel="bookmark" and permalink code so it looks more like:

POST_TITLE

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions. Thank you for using Technorati!

Thanks Rick. Currently BOTH files are in my public_html folder, but the .htaccess file is empty. Should I copy the contents of _htaccess to .htaccess and delete the old file?

Thanks for your help.

Mike

Or delete the old, empty .htaccess file and rename _htaccess to .htaccess.

Right, good point. What does this file do? While it retroactively effect existing URLs? Should I not be concerned that I have both files?

The file uses Apaches rewrite mod. For example, requests to ../blog1 will automatically be directed to ../tiki-view_blog.php?blogId=1.

You can have only a single .htaccess file in each directory. The Tiki installer includes a _htaccess file (named with a _ instead of . since some servers do not support this). Simply rename this file to .htaccess.

Please see the docsQuestion for details.
