separate content on /tiki-index.php and the main home page -- possible?>

I want to have an "unauthorized access" message on the main site before login:

http://wiki.mydomain.com/tiki-index.php

this i have configured correctly (unless of course that's the wrong area that I configured) - but when users login, and then click home (we use departmental group home pages) - the original "no unauthorized access" message is still there.

perhaps I'm editing the wrong section, but how do you enable such a message that non-authorized, non-user, not logged in people can see - but this message goes away once logged in.

Hey Rick -

Thanks for that tip. That certainly does the job, although I am wondering if there is a similar way to achieve same results by preserving some of the feel and UI of the current theme? Or is the only way to achieve this result to have the basic white page with message and login box? Like is there anyway to add any HTML or CSS to that page?

Additionally it says "maintenance" in the top bar of the browser, and that isn't technically what is happening. I don't want to confuse end-users that the site is impacted in some way. Can this part be modified?

Thanks again for your help and/or anyone else that can chime in here.

hey - thanks for the "Close Site" feature recommendation you pointed me to.

That actually worked exactly like I wanted.. until... now I can't login with any accounts (except for the admin) when that feature is enabled.

As soon as I turn it off in the General / Navigation section, then logins resume. Enable it again so I get the basic login with the "unauthorized access prohibited" message and all logins stop.

Do I need to bounce the mysqld? Tried searching forums and didnt see anything right off the bat on this.

Thanks for anyone's assistance on this if you happen to know the resolution

J

man - I don't know how long you've been working with TikiWiki - but you have saved me a lot of time with the quick and concise responses that have been given here in these forums.

the weird thing is I coulda swore this was working without setting the appropriate 'close site' permissions - nevertheless, it's been corrected now

kudos!
