Staging and Approval in Tiki 6.0

Hi everyone, I am new to Tiki and recently researching on Staging and Approval feature of Tiki6.0. I couldn't find a clear documentation for configurating this feature, tried to switch on Staging and Approval feature on admin panel, set up two groups and two categories for stagged and approved status and so on. Now my problem is I couldn't find any place to approve wiki page after I created stagged page. can anyone tell me a clear steps of configuration? many thanks

it seems that staging and approval issue is a bit challenge to Tiki. I saw some unsolved questions back to June of this year. I could find any information on Tiki6.0 so followed following steps(might be sample on Tiki5.0 or older):

Imagine a site where

  • Anonymous see nothing
  • Registereds see the approved pages and not the stagging pages
  • Authors see the staging+approved pages. They can edit staging

pages. They see all the pages: They can categorized with other
categories the pages.

  • Approvers see the staging+approved pages. They can approve

pages.
The groups are included in each other
Anonymous < Registered < Authors < Approvers

Group perms

  • Registered
    • tiki_p_view

  • Authors
    • tiki_p_edit
    • tiki_p_wiki_view_history
  • Approvers
    • tiki_p_remove
    • tiki_p_rename
    • tiki_p_rollback

If you have other categories, you can add tiki_p_view_categories... as global permissions to Registered

2 categories

  • Staging
  • Approved

Categories perms

  • Staging
    • Authors: tiki_p_view_categorized
    • Authors: tiki_p_edit_categorized
  • Approved
    • Registered: tiki_p_view_categorized
    • Approvers : tiki_p_edit_categorized

Wiki staging setting:

  • If not in the group, edit is always redirected to the staging

page edit: Approvers

  • Delete staging pages at approval: yes
  • Categorize approved pages with categories of staging copy on

approval: yes

  • Force bounce of editing of approved pages to staging: yes
  • Category for staging pages: Staging
  • Category for approved pages: Approved
  • Category for pages out of sync: none
  • Unique page name prefix to indicate staging copy: *

What happens during the staging process with this configuration?

  • For example a page named mypage. During the staging, 2 pages

will be able to coexist, mypage = approved version, *mypage =
stagging version

  • An author clicks edit on mypage, the edit page pannel opens the

stagging page *mypage. When he saves *mypage, tikiwiki assigns

  • mypage to the stagging category. If an author clicks edit on
  • mypage, the edit page opens on *mypage
  • An approver approves *mypage. tikiwiki copies all the history of
  • mypage changes on top of mypage history and assigns the

category approved to mypage. tikiwiki deletes *mypage

Unfornately, I couldn't find Categories perms like tiki_p_view_categorized
tiki_p_edit_categorized
in Tiki6.0 admin panel or somewhere else.

Waiting for some expert to show up...

When followed previous sample steps, created a staging page, find approve and reject buttons in admin login, but when hit the "approve" button, it shows following:
Error:Either staging or approved page cannot be found.

Yes, this is a known issue (that I stumbled upon recently) in Tiki 6. There appear to be several issues with staging/approval. 😑
Hi there, thank for sharing your experience with me. so have you ever tried previous version like Tiki5, did staging feature work well in Tiki5 or even older version?

So folks, does this mean that staging and approval DOES NOT work on Tiki6.0 or is there any clue to implement it? thanks

When pages are already created, the staging process sort of works. A staged page is created and authorising it works, but checking the categories assigned to the page shows that it doesn't get assigned to the staging category, nor the approved category.

When creating a new page, it does get assigned to the staging category automatically, but as soon as the an attempt to approve the page, the same error mentioned above pops up:

"Either staging or approved page cannot be found"

I've tried opening up the permissions and recreating the categories, but without any luck.

Is there anybody familiar with Staging and Approval on Tiki6.0? ergent to implement it.

The bug reports about this problem probably mean that developers are aware of it. Not everything that needs to be fixed gets fixed quickly, unfortunately, because people just don't have enough time (most are volunteers and also have to make a living). If you can afford to pay for the fix, that would speed it up probably since it'd become a higher priority for a developer who is juggling paid work with volunteer bug fixes. But also unfortunately, the people most able to fix staging and approval are also the busiest with other projects, so even offering to sponsor the fix might not bring a quick result. There's a "Consultants" page at info.tiki.org if you want to go that route.

About an earlier question, presumably staging and approval worked in an earlier release. It was developed for the support.mozilla.com Tiki installation, and has been in use there. But Tiki's code has been changing fast since that time and apparently staging and approval wasn't updated in step with it.
